Brief
A residential renovation project located in Cuffley, focused on the reconfiguration of an existing dual-access bathroom within the home. The original layout created an inefficient relationship between private and shared spaces, limiting both functionality and privacy for the occupants. Working alongside Alico Engineering, the brief centred around subdividing the existing footprint to create a more practical spatial arrangement while improving the overall flow and day-to-day usability of the home. Architectural drawings and visualisations were developed to explore how the existing space could be transformed through minimal but effective spatial intervention.
Proposal
The proposal introduced a carefully considered subdivision of the existing bathroom arrangement, transforming the single dual-access space into two distinct areas with clearer public and private functions: a compact guest WC accessed from the hallway, and a private en-suite bathroom incorporating a bath, shower, WC, and vanity area.
The redesign improved circulation throughout the home while creating a greater sense of privacy and spatial efficiency for the occupants.
Through a restrained and contemporary design approach, the project focused on maximising the potential of the existing footprint without extension, demonstrating how small-scale interventions can significantly enhance the experience and functionality of a domestic interior. Visualisations were produced to communicate the proposed atmosphere, materiality, and spatial transformation prior to construction.
